Rajasthan being a driest state of India, the summer season here that runs between the mid of March and June, is predominantly hot and sticky. Throughout the season the average temperature ranges between 32ºC to 45ºC in most of the parts of the state. Whereas, in the west and eastern side of the Aravalli hills, which includes the region of Bikaner, Phalodi, Jaisalmer and Barmer, the average temperature may shoot up to unbearable 48ºC. Though, the summer nights here experience an extreme fall till 20ºC to 25ºC. The hot winds and dust storms running from these regions affect the other parts of the state as well. So, if you are planning a trip to Rajasthan then, summer is the season that must be avoided. Otherwise, the sand dunes of Jaisalmer and Barmer would be delightful only from the distance, while gazing through the windows of your air conditioned tents. And the Camel safari will only happen in dreams.
On the contrary, the one and only hill station of Rajasthan – Mt. Abu is the sole respite for the tourists visiting this hot state. Also including Udaipur, where the climate is equally pleasant. The average day and night temperature in both the places linger between 38°C and 25°C in Udaipur, and 32°C and 22°C in Mt. Abu. The tourists visiting Rajasthan during summers are suggested to stuff their luggage with linens and cotton clothes for the daytime and, light woolen clothes and shawls for the nights.
